Umesh rated it it was amazing Apr 08, While it has often been noted that these two plays work like companion pieces, despite being separated in time by seventeen years, 1 what has so far not received attention is the way in which a central textual feature, or what I shall call micro-text or micro-genre, plays a pivotal role in furthering the subversive politics of both plays, by working in ways that contradict their innate generic logic.

I really loved this one and recommend it to readers of Indian drama since its a classic. Padmini gives preference to her sexual desires and gets an opportunity to remain with both the persons she loves though fails to fulfil her desire mind of her husband and body of her lover.

An excellent play that texr the question of what completes a being, and brings forth the age old debate of body versus soul. Goddess Kali knows the intentions of Padmini and says that humans can never give up selfishness. She also asks him to complete the uncompleted love by sleeping with him. Pankaj Tayade rated it it was amazing May 29, Probably the only character who shares my sentiments of rest and sleep. Based on a story from the ancient Indian epic Mahabharatawhere a selfish father asks his sons to exchange their youth hzyavadana his old age, Karnad found that this mythological story reflected his own situation at home, where his family was happy for him, while at the same time anxious that he might decide to settle abroad and not return home.

The idea of Ba I didn’t like the plot tbh but there’s hajavadana reason why I’m giving this book 4 stars, which I believe it definitely deserves.
